Happy Friday!

We've made it through our first week! Yahoo!
We've been working hard learning our schedules and establishing classroom routines...
and will continue working on communicating with each other en français! ;)
Here's what kept us busy this morning:

Here we are playing the card game "War," but with a Math twist.
We played three rounds, each with a different partner, and each with a different math operation.
Round 1: Addition
Round 2: Subtraction
Round 3: Multiplication

The value of the face cards changed a little bit, too. For the first two rounds, Jack = 11, Queen = 12, King = 13.
For the multiplication round, King = 0 instead of 13.
This is a great game that we can easily play at home to review our basic Math facts.
Are you up for the challenge, Mom and Dad?

Here we are doing our daily LaLaLa reading in français. We read independently for 8 minutes today and we will continue to add 1 minute daily until we reach 10 minutes. We will learn how to read with a partner next week.

We ended our morning with a team challenge in Science. We worked in our table groups to build a free-standing structure using 20 pieces of dry spaghetti, 1 m of tape and one marshmallow.
We only had 18 minutes to create the tallest structure we could.

We had many successes and failures with our designs and learned that having a plan before getting started is a good idea. We had a great time collaborating with our classmates and are looking forward to our next team challenge, which could pop up at any time...!

Have a great weekend, everyone!
Vive le Ness! :)
